Heidi and Cathy back from Australia

Dear friends,

Greetings from Papua New Guinea. Isn’t it wonderful that we have a merciful heavenly
Father who loves us no matter what? We don’t have to get our act together before God
loves us. Thank you, God for sending Jesus, so that we may live with You forever, and also
experience peace and joy amidst the less –than- ideal circumstances of this life.

Heidi’s surgery

Heidi and I have returned from Australia. Heidi’s jaw surgery was a success. She is now on the mend. Andrew and the boys are definitely happy to have Mom back in the kitchen. It is so nice to be a family again.

Wusuraambya Believers’ Conference

About a month ago Andrew went to Wusuraambya. The Wusuraambya believers hosted their first believers’ conference. Fortysix believers from two neighbouring tribes walked for many hours to attend. Akon, a Bible teacher from the Yagaria tribe, was the guest speaker. His message to the believers was that Satan has a plan to destroy us but God is greater and he also has a plan – to save us. Akon spoke twice a day during the conference and then ministered to the teachers and leaders at night. His wife Esoli spoke to the ladies in a separate session each day and also visited with them in the evenings. The believers attending were greatly encouraged from God’s Word and refreshed by the fellowship they enjoyed with one another.

Akon, the speaker, also took time to disciple Willis, Jesi and Josek, the Wusuraambya Bible teachers. He noticed that Josek struggled with his relationship to his father. His father spent time with his second wife, and has never cared for Josek’s mother and his many siblings. Josek has had to take the father role, doing all the work in the gardens, etc. Akon pointed out that Josek needed to get rid of his bitter attitude toward his father as this was hindering his growth as a believer. Josek took this to heart and went right to his father and apologized for his attitude. His father was very touched. The next day Josek was in church with a new shirt on, a gift from his father. This would have never happened before. His father was also in church, a first in a very long time. This is just one example of how God worked in hearts during the conference. Please continue to pray for the Wusuraambya believers.

Andrew and I continue with the translation. Lord willing Andrew will be going to Wusuraambya next week to check over the last Romans Bible lessons with Willis, Jesi and Josek.

Thanks for you prayers and financial support that enables us to continue in this ministry. The Wusuraambya believers have also expressed their thanks to you for making it possible for us to come and tell them about Jesus.

Your co-workers in Christ,

Andrew & Cathy
